My name is Sharon Stanley, and I have the privilege of serving as Director of Compass Academy. I have served in this capacity since the summer of 2020, when I began working with a team of District 303 administrators, teachers, and parents to reimagine education and to plan for the opening of a competency-based school for students seeking a progressive alternative to traditional high school. My passion for Compass Academy is rooted in my desire as an educator to help each student forge connections to school, develop self-efficacy, and discover a path they want to pursue.
As I enter my twenty-ninth year in education and my ninth as an administrator, I am excited to see what is on the horizon for the 2023-24 school year. There are many exciting improvements and additions at Compass, including new CNC machines in the science, technology, and engineering (SET) lab, new furniture and flexible seating in learning spaces, increased experiential learning opportunities, and even some new staff members. The Compass team can't wait to welcome both new and returning students to the Compass community.
