Students who attend Compass Academy continue to be enrolled at their home high school, St. Charles East or St. Charles North, in conjunction with their enrollment at Compass. This means that they may take classes at their home high school in addition to the courses they take at Compass. Approximately half of our students opt to take one or two elective, honors, or AP courses at their home high school in the morning before coming to Compass for the rest of their day. Whether students opt to attend Compass full-time or part-time, we will build them a schedule that accommodates their needs, interests, and academic goals.

Every student who attends Compass Academy has the same counselor, Ms. Brenna Ohlson, so they will register for all of their classes by meeting with her. This includes classes they might take at their home high school, Elgin Community College, and Fox Valley Career Center.

Because we offer personalized and project-based learning, we will always have students who are working individually with teachers on projects of interest to pursue credit through demonstrated competencies. However, we also offer courses, guided by student interest, that allow students to meet all of the Illinois and District 303 graduation requirements.
